Google AdWords Keyword Tool Confusion

By admin | August 21, 2008

Recently, I was searching keywords for one of my oldest client. He is now starting SEO Company in New York. This is great news to me because this job gonna be easier work for me as I am into same industry.

I decided to do same exercise again which I did for myself. After doing some paper work I opened Google AdWords Keyword Tool and forget to login. I noted search count for some important keywords. Then I thought let me see CPC for them, so I logged in and found search count are completely different now.

I looked for not less than 25 keywords and found a rhythm. Tool is showing around 1/3 last month searches count and 1/3 average last year search count when I use it without Login my adwords account than when I use it after login.

i.e for example–

Search Engine Optimization —–

Approx Avg Search Volume is 135,000 — (without login)
Approx Avg Search Volume is 550,000 — (with login)

In a discussion someone said the non-logged-in estimated traffic volume is much closer to the number of impressions I get for some AdWords keywords that are limited to organic search only (i.e. excluded from the content network).

I am not very much sure if this true as Google clearly mentioned in both cases search volume is displayed from Google and its Network.

I am still finding out if there is any reason, when I found it, I’ll update this post for sure.
